Quapaw man gets 120-year suspended sentence for abusing 8 year old

(Miami-AP) -- A former policeman who now lives in Quapaw was given a 120-year suspended sentence after admitting he sexually molested an eight-year-old girl.

As part of a plea bargain with prosecutors, 51-year old Robert Johnson pleaded guilty in Ottawa County District Court to one count of child prostitution, two counts of lewd molestation and three counts of sodomy.

The girl told Department of Human Services investigators Johnson punished her when she misbehaved by sending her to a barn, where he molested her.

Ottawa County assistant District Attorney David Anderson said he accepted the plea bargain because he wasn't sure critical evidence would be admitted in court.

Anderson said that evidence includes admissions made by Johnson to a child welfare worker.
