WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court's case docket is now online.
The system for tracking the more than 8,000 cases that pass through the nation's highest court each year is available on the court's Web site, www.supremecourtus.gov.
Users can access case information, including current status and names of both sides' lawyers. A search starts by clicking the ``docket'' prompt on the Web site's home page and using an identifier — the Supreme Court docket number, a lower court's docket number or the case name.
Supreme Court docket numbers consist of the term year plus a number, in the order the case was filed. The court will begin its 2000-2001 term Oct. 2, so the docket number for current cases begins with 00-. Docket entries and changes in case status generally will be reflected the day after they occur.
