(Tulsa-AP) -- The mother of a Broken Arrow girl who was molested by a former teacher has sued the teacher and the Broken Arrow school district.

The lawsuit filed in Tulsa County District Court seeks unspecified damages from Cynthia Ann Alexander and Broken Arrow public schools.

The 34-year-old Alexander was sentenced last month to serve nine years in prison. She pleaded no contest in June to three counts of lewd molestation involving the girl, who is now 14 years old.

Alexander was a teacher at Childers Middle School and was the school's cheerleading coach.

Alexander had been accused of touching the girl -- who was an eighth grade cheerleader -- in an improper manner on several occasions.
