(Bartlesville-AP) -- Bartlesville police are looking for an injured dog and the dog's suspected abusers.

Phillips Petroleum Company security officers called police early Monday morning when they saw a tan pickup truck dragging a mid-size dog through town.

Witnesses say a man got out of the truck, picked up the animal -- which is believed to be a gold Labrador retriever -- and put it in the truck bed before driving away.

Some Bartlesville residents say the incident brings to mind the story of a black Labrador retriever that was dragged alongside a vehicle in 1995.

That dog -- nicknamed Celebrity -- was rescued and moved to Washington. His abusers were convicted of felony animal cruelty and jailed.
