Second district congressional candidate Andy Ewing wants an opponent to withdraw a television ad Ewing calls "mean spirited". In the commercial for republican challenger Jack Ross, an older woman calls Ewing “a goober."

Ewing says the ad doesn't criticize his stance on the issues, but attacks his personal credibility. "President Ronald Reagan would be very disappointed in Mr. Ross,” Ewing said. “He has totally disregarded President Reagan's beloved eleventh commandment -- 'Thou shalt not speak evil of a fellow republican."

Two of Ewing’s opponents, however, say Ewing should pull one of his ads showing Ewing on the cover of TIME magazine. Ewing wasn't on the cover of the magazine, but was honored in an advertising section as one of the nation's top car dealers. A mock cover shot showing Ewing appearing on the cover of TIME was part of that award.
