In the past month or so, since beginning my work for the high school football season, I’ve heard a common complaint from area coaches. “We can’t get much information on Tulsa area football on the Web,†is normally the gist of it. Many complain that too many sites focus on Oklahoma City and the western half of the state.
Never fear coaches and fans, Tulsa will now get the attention it deserves. Not just Tulsa, but The News on Six entire coverage area. Beginning Wednesday, August 16, Friday Football Fever can be found every day at kotv.com. We’ll have daily coverage of area high school and Big Four college football. We won’t forget about the other fall sports as well. Scores and news from all of the area’s action can be found on our local sports page.
The Friday Football Fever page will be dedicated entirely to high school football coverage. Several daily and weekly features are being planned. Included are a weekly coaches chat with area head football coaches, tons of scores Thursday and Friday nights, a weekly wrap-up column and a weekly preview column.
Coaches Chats
Every Saturday at 6:30 p.m., kotv.com will have a live chat with a different area high school football coach. Anyone with a computer can log on to our chat and ask questions of some of the best coaching minds in the area. The schedule for the entire season is already complete and looks like this:
(Last year’s team results in parentheses)
August 26th- Preseason Chats
September 1st- H.S. Football Season Begins
Coaches will be added to chats during every week of the state playoffs. Obviously, availability of those coaches is impossible to determine right now. We will also add more coaches to our special Friday night chats. We hope to announce those very soon.
Pre-season District Previews
A lot of phone calls have been made to area coaches in the last few weeks. The result will be previews of every district in our coverage area. Team capsules for every team in each district and player profiles of some of the biggest stars in every district will be included. Here’s a schedule of those previews:
Friday Night
Scores, Scores and more Scores. If you happen to get home too late to catch scores from other games in your district, or you’re just curious, don’t worry. One simple click on kotv.com’s Friday Football Fever page gets you nearly any score in eastern Oklahoma.
We won’t ignore the other side of the state. We know it holds a great deal of interest to our audience. You’ll find almost anything you need when you get home from the game.
In addition to the scores, we will have live chats every Friday night as soon as the Friday Football Fever television show is over. Log on around 10:35 and talk to some of the area coaches and our own sports reporters. John Holcomb, Mike Wolfe and Ryan Rahal will take your questions every week.
High School Football Schedule
Here’s a quick and easy look at what to expect every week:
Big Four Football
We did not forget about the colleges. In addition to daily news from TU, OSU, OU and Arkansas, kotv.com will offer live scoring updates from Big Four games every Saturday. If you can’t get the game on the tube or radio just check kotv.com. Every time the score changes in a Big Four game, we’ll update it live.
The NFL
Kotv.com has partnered with the The Dallas Morning News to offer Internet newsletter subscriptions for NFL and Dallas Cowboys fans. NFL Insider or Inside Valley Ranch can be delivered to your e-mail every day, free of charge. Click Here to Subscribe.
There’s a lot to remember here, but we hope this will help fans get ready for the season ahead. From the pre-season to the playoffs, kotv.com will be your leading source for area football news and fun.
