Two people are confirmed dead after an afternoon auto accident in Tulsa.
Police were still on the scene at 1:30 p.m. Monday cleaning up the wreck between a late model car and dump truck. Reports confirmed the driver and passenger of the car died after they spun into the oncoming truck on eastbound I-44 near the Harvard Exit.
"The vehicle tried, but didn't complete a pass before trying to change lanes," said highway patrolman Ron Davis. "The car clipped the other vehicle, lost control, crossed the median and hit the dump truck."
The driver of the dump truck was not seriously injured. However, his load of hot tar and gravel spilled on parts of the interstate.
Hazmat crews from the Tulsa Fire Department were called to the scene to clean the spill.
