(Sapulpa-AP) -- A judge is ordering a woman and her former boyfriend to stand trial for first-degree murder in the death of the woman's daughter. Tammy Renee Brooks and Kurt Arnold Vomberg Junior are charged in the death of Brooks' 21-month-old girl, Skyla.

The girl was pronounced dead at a Tulsa hospital about a day after Vomberg called authorities to claim the toddler was choking at a rural Creek County residence. The state medical examiner says Skyla Brooks died of blunt trauma to the head. Today's ruling ended a preliminary hearing that started June22nd and had been continued from Friday. Special Judge Richard Woolery set an August 7th district court arraignment for Brooks and an August 28th arraignment for Vomberg.
