(Norman-AP) -- A guard out of Burkburnett, Texas, says he'll sign a letter of intent in November to play basketball for the Oklahoma Sooners.

Matt Gipson has been recruited by several schools including, OU, Utah, Tulsa, Oklahoma State, Kansas and UCLA. He made unofficial trips to Oklahoma and Tulsa.

Gipson says the Sooners' offense, the Big 12 and Norman's proximity to home were factors in his decision to join the OU team. Gipson scored 20.2 points per game last year and averaged 8.4 rebounds and three assists.
