(Phoenix-AP) -- Tony Womack hit a two-run homer with one out in the bottom of the ninth to give Arizona a 3-to-2 win over St. Louis.
The Cardinals had taken a 2-to-1 lead in the top of the ninth on an Eric Davis sacrifice fly. They appeared to be on the verge of beating Randy Johnson before Womack connected off reliever Dave Veres.
Johnson threw a six-hitter, fanned eleven, and is now 15-2. Veres took the loss in relief of Darryl Kile, who struck out nine and allowed just three hits over eight innings.
