(Tulsa, Oklahoma-AP) -- The Tulsa, Oklahoma, school board has narrowed candidates in its superintendent search from 44 to five.
The board passed over local candidates for the job. Ruth Ann Fate is board president. Fate says each has a unique quality or received considerable recognition. And she says their districts were exemplary.
One is Amarillo public schools Superintendent Bob Moore. He was nominated for Texas Superintendent of the Year even after resigning. Other finalists are Joan Kowal, who last headed the Palm Beac County, Florida school system. Peter Gorman was chief operating officer for business and finance in the Orange County Public Schools in Florida. David Sawyer is leaving the Brevard County Public Schools in Florida. Andre Hornsby is a former superintendent of the Yonkers, New York school district. He attended Tulsa’s Central High School before attending the University of Tulsa.
