An unusual site for downtown Tulsa broke ground Thursday. It’s a new residential development called The Village at Central Park
Tulsa Mayor Susan Savage was on-hand as earth-work began on the east side of downtown Tulsa near Peoria Avenue. She said she’s excited about the renovation taking place in the dilapidated neighborhood.
“As we fill in these areas that have deteriorated over the years we create opportunity and build neighborhoods,†said Savage.
The development only has ten homes planned to begin with, but will eventually erect more than 100 houses. The homes are valued between $130,000-$200,000.
City leaders hope the homes will sell quickly and spur further development in the run-down areas.
