(Tulsa-AP) -- America's elite gymnasts will gather in Tulsa this weekend to take part in the three-day U.S. Classic.
The event, which begins today, is the first step female gymnasts must take in order to reach the 2000 Olympics at Sydney, Australia. Gary Warren of U-S-A Olympics says the event will be a who's-who of gymnasts.
Training sessions, which are open to the public, began Thursday and continues through the day Friday. Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 7 P.M. Friday.
The Junior International competition and the Senior International competition will be conducted Saturday. Five of the seven gold medalists from the 1996 Olympics will be in Tulsa, including Oklahoma's own Shannon Miller.
