(Altus-AP) -- An Oklahoma prison guard stabbed 16 times by an inmate says he'll campaign for better safety equipment for correctional officers.
William Callaway survived the June 5th attack at the Oklahoma State Reformatory but his partner did not.
Sergeant Joe Allen Gamble was the first of the two attacked by prisoner Dorhee McKissick. Gamble died the next day at an Altus hospital.
Callaway was wounded in his scalp, neck, shoulder and back.
McKissick has been moved to the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester.
Callaway says he'll campaign for more safety equipment and a change in policies at the Granite prison. He says he'll also campaign for prison guards to have better safety equipment.
