(Westville-AP) -- Authorities say a murder defendant out on bond was almost killed himself when two men opened fire on him on U-S 59 in Adair County.
Authorities say they don't know why Bronson Lowe was targeted by the gunmen, who allegedly fired several rounds into the driver's side door and window of Lowe's pickup Friday.
Arrested in the case is 49-year-old Kenny Sherrin. Westville police say he'll be charged with shooting with intent to kill and using a motor vehicle to facilitate use of a deadly weapon.
Police say they're still looking for 34-year-old suspect Ronnie Vaughn.
Lowe is accused of killing 30-year-old Monty Rowland in a Christmas night shooting north of Westville. He faces second-degree murder charges in that case.
