Tulsa, Oklahoma-AP) -- The Tulsa basketball coach search committee is getting close to making a choice.

The Tulsa World reports the race has narrowed to three --Appalachian State head coach Buzz Peterson, Texas-San Antonio head coach Tim Carter and Tulsa assistant Norm Roberts.

The three are vying for the job vacated with coach Bill Self's move to Illinois.

Tulsa sports information director Don Tomkalski says a new coach likely won't be announced before tomorrow.

The World quotes unnamed sources in reporting Peterson impressed search and booster committees in a Saturday interview.

But other sources cited Roberts widespread support among T-U boosters and fans.

Peterson has guided Appalachian State to a 79-and-39 record in four years.

Roberts has Self's endorsement for the job.
