A man convicted in the deaths of an elderly McIntosh County couple got the death penalty Friday.
The jury in Eufaula took about an-hour-and-a-half to decide Harold McElmurry should die for the crime.
McElmurry waived formal sentencing and the judge agreed with the jury's decision and sentenced him to die by lethal injection.
McElmurry and his wife did odd jobs for Robert and Vivian Pendley.
Prosecutors say after killing them, the McElmurry's got away with seventy dollars, some jewelry and an old car.
Vickie McElmurry goes on trial later this year.
