KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Farmland Industries is voluntarily recalling about 86,000 pounds of sliced turkey products that are possibly contaminated with lubricating oil.

The nation's largest farm cooperative and the Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall on Friday.

The products, distributed nationwide, carry a small health risk: temporary digestive discomfort.

In March customers began reporting an off-taste and smell to the products, Farmland spokesman David Eahart said. Subsequent
investigations turned up a small leak in a piece of processing equipment.

"We have already done a retrieval of most of the product from our distributors," he said. "Very little of the product remains out there now, but consumer safety is always a top priority."

The recall involves Farmland brand sliced turkey ham in 10- and 16-ounce packages. Package labels bear the establishment number
P2122 and expiration dates of July 5 or earlier.

Also involved in the recall are the following brands of sliced turkey breast, all in 16-ounce packages unless otherwise indicated:

--Meijer brand, establishment number P-18029;

--Albertson's Deli brand, establishment number P-19051;

--Spring Hill smoked turkey breast, random weight packages, establishment number P-19051;

--Farmland Special Select, establishment number P-19051.
