ATLANTA (AP) — Candice Bergen says she feels too old to be engaged, but that won't prevent her from tying the knot with New York businessman and philanthropist Marshall Rose.

``What's the point, really?'' Bergen, 54, said Tuesday night after giving a lecture at the Atlanta Civic Center. ``But, yes, we may formalize it. You heard it here first.''

She gave no wedding date. Bergen's former husband, French director Louis Malle, died of cancer in 1995.

Bergen, perhaps best known for her 10-year CBS role as television reporter ``Murphy Brown,'' said she agreed to be host of an interview show on the cable channel Oxygen as a way to reinvent herself. But she said the Brown character is hard to escape.

``I always kind of feel like she's sitting on my shoulder, yelling in my ear, `You moron, don't do that!'''
