Here's a new warning about an old rumor.
This rumor is more than three years old and involves Gerber Baby Foods. The rumor is currently being circulated by e-mail, fax and through the postal mail.
The message says that Gerber has agreed to give $500 savings bonds to parents with children born during a certain time period.
Sound too good to be true? Here's the catch.
The message tells parents "in order to receive this savings bond you must send a copy of your child's birth certificate and social security card." It also lists a post office box in Minnesota.
Gerber Baby Foods says the claims are false and the company says it was never involved in any type of class action settlement involving consumers. The Better Business Bureau has also been warning consumers about this possible fraud for years.
Since the rumor has re-surfaced in the Green Country area, The News on Six wanted to remind parents it's not true. For more information, you can call the BBB at 492-1266 or click on the links below.
