(Wichita Falls, Texas-AP) -- The Dallas Cowboys' practice field will probably be greener than just about anywhere else Wichita Falls, Texas, this summer.

And that's not sitting well with some residents who have to endure water rationing.

The city council has given Midwestern State University the flexibility to keep the Cowboys on green turf during their upcoming training camp.

University officials feared that rationing could jeopardize their contract with the Cowboys and maintenance of the practice fields.

So the school was granted a special waiver allowing it to use their discretion to keep designated campus fields green and remain under water consumption limits.

Several residents told city council members they resented having to save water while the Cowboys' practice field was allowed to stay green.
