The Williams Company is giving a million dollars to the University of Tulsa to help establish a new graduate program. Williams runs one of the largest energy trading floors in the world... and is in the process of expanding. But they've had a tough time finding enough qualified people to work there. So they joined forces with TU to help built their future workforce. Bill Hobbs with Williams Energy says "they'll know a lot about Williams, they'll know a lot about what we're doing. But we also see an advantage in working with the faculty at the University of Tulsa. We expect many innovative ideas to come out of this." Gale Sullenberger with the University of Tulsa says "it takes very highly skilled, qualified people to do those jobs... and there's a shortage of those kind of people here in Tulsa and in other areas as well." TU plans to recruit students for the new program from throughout the region. The first classes will be offered in the fall of 2001.
