(Eufaula-AP) -- A judge has ruled that a man convicted of murdering his girlfriend's ex-husband and dismembering him last August should be put to death.
A jury has convicted Patrick Dwaine Murphy in the slaying of George Jacobs Senior. Jacobs was beaten on a county road near Vernon, about 15 miles west of Eufaula, on August 28th.
McIntosh County District Judge Steven Taylor ruled yesterday that Murphy should be put to death. Taylor says the slaying was heinous and cruel. He says the victim was cut to pieces and his genitals were removed and left in the road.
Murphy was accused of participating in the killing. Later, he allegedly told several people about the crime.
