SAN ANTONIO (AP) â€” Officers foiled a plot by two 12-year-olds to shoot two other boys at school and then commit suicide, police said Wednesday.

A resident called police to report a boy was trying to shove a rifle into his backpack Wednesday morning, Police Chief Al Philippus said.

When officers arrived at a home to investigate, one boy appeared to point the rifle at them, but gave up, Philippus said. The other was in a bathroom with a pistol pointed at his head. He also surrendered without a struggle.

Police believe the pair planned to go to Irving Middle School and attack two other boys to get revenge for a past dispute.
