(Denver-AP) -- Convicted Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh has asked a federal court to deny the government's effort to throw
out his latest bid for a new trial.

McVeigh says he deserves another day in court in a reply to a motion from federal prosecutors to dismiss his appeal.

A reply from his attorneys was made public today by U-S District Court in Denver.

McVeigh's attorneys argue that the claims he made in his motion to vacate his conviction and death sentence are weighty enough to
warrant a hearing.

A federal jury in Denver convicted McVeigh on federal murder and conspiracy charges and sentenced him to death for the 1995 bombing
of the Alfred P- Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, which killed 168 people and injured hundreds more.

This is his second attempt to have his conviction and sentence vacated.
