(Undated-AP) -- A Ringling man died when his ultralight crashed in Jefferson County in southern Oklahoma.

Sixty-four year old Ray Porterfield was pronounced dead at the scene at a pasture three miles west of Oklahoma 89 on U-S 70.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the aircraft reportedly descended at about a 45-degree angle at about 8:21 last night. It appears to have skipped once and hit a tree.

The patrol says the aircraft was destroyed on impact, with Porterfield ejected 26 feet.
