(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Sooner fans who always seem to fight construction snarls on the way to the Oklahoma-Texas football weekend in Dallas will be getting a little help from road officials.
State transportation officials inked a $3 million contract with APAC-Oklahoma Incorporated of Tulsa to resurface six miles of Interstate 35 in Murray County north of Ardmore.
The contract says the company must knock off work from October Fifth through early October Ninth. The work is scheduled to begin in June or July and take about six months.
Thousands of O-U fans drive I-35 every October to cheer their Sooners on in the classic showdown.
All four lanes must also stay open around the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day holidays.
