Stroud Still Rebuilding A Year Later

A tornado that struck Stroud, May third of last year, tore away the city's economic base in just seconds. The twister wiped away more than three-hundred jobs when it destroyed the three largest employers in town including the Tanger Outlet Mall.

City leaders say the future is starting to look brighter. The city signed a contract to begin repairing the hospital an industrial park is growing and a new manufacturing company hopes to hire more than 3-hundred workers.

â€œI think when it is all said and down, give it some time and Stroud will bounce back. We will be bigger, better and stronger than it ever was,â€ says City Manager Earl Burson.

City leaders also are watching closely on who buys the land that Tanger is trying to sell.
