(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Two former Oklahoma County jailers have been cleared of assault charges after accusations that they beat a seven-foot-five-inch inmate.
Troy Foreman and former detention officer Adam Daniel Denney say inmate Greg Ritter was drunk, refused orders to strip and spit at them on August 21st.
Both Foreman and Denney have been fired, but a jury yesterday found them innocent of assault.
Authorities say Ritter was found asleep in a car at an Oklahoma City mall and admitted he had been drinking tequila.
Defense attorneys say the jailers used only reasonable force to subdue Ritter, and suggested Ritter exaggerated the incident in hopes of winning a lawsuit.
