(Duncan-AP) -- A preliminary hearing began today for a Comanche couple charged with felony counts of animal cruelty.
Deborah and Larry Brown were arrested last month after authorities found 135 dogs at a house near Corum.
Duncan animal welfare authorities euthanized 35 of the animals and Lawton officials euthanized 31, in addition to the ones destroyed at the scene.
Karen Peck-Slay is with the Stephens County Humane Society.
She says several diseases were found among the animals, including parvo, distemper and mange.
If convicted, the Browns could receive up to five years in prison and a $500 fine each. They are free after posting a $5,000 bond.
