(Shawnee-AP) -- Governor Keating is asking the attorney general and a district attorney to review a controversial public land auction in Pottawatomie County.
At issue is an April 11th auction of about five acres of Shawnee Conservation District property.
Sealed bids were submitted. Oral bids were also allowed at a district board meeting but limited to three per person.
The property was to be sold to the highest bidder.
Resident Bob Washburn made oral bids and Linda Capps bid orally on behalf of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation.
Washburn says he was prepared to bid higher than a final bid submitted by John A- "Rocky" Barrett Junior, chairman of the Pottawatomie Nation.
Barrett says he would not have bid orally if the tribe had submitted the best bid.
