(Norman-AP) -- Sophomore Nate Hybl is the new backup quarterback at Oklahoma.
Hybl had a strong performance in spring drills and has surpassed senior Patrick Fletcher in the battle to backup starter Josh Heuple.
Offensive coordinator Mark Mangino says Hybl is expected to be listed as the backup when drills start again in August.
But Mangino says he expects the competition for the number two spot to continue into the fall.
He says the change is the only significant move in the offensive depth chart.
In three scrimmages, Hybl completed 26 of 44 passes for 273 yards.
Fletcher was 18-of-40 for 123 yards.
