(Amber-AP) -- An obscure state statute could force the small town of Amber to refund traffic ticket fines levied since the 1960s.
The statute requires Oklahoma towns to file their city ordinances with their respective county clerk's office every ten years.
But Amber apparently has not done that since the '60s.
Chickasha attorney Ryland Rivas says he discovered that while working on a case.
Rivas says he's putting together a class-action lawsuit on behalf of more than 30 clients in hopes of reclaiming money paid out in fines for speeding in the small town.
But Amber city attorney Van Bingaman cites another statute he says authorizes the tickets issued by Amber police, even though city ordinances have not been filed.
Bingaman says he could not speculate on why the ordinances were not filed.
