TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Xeta Technologies has given $500,000 to OSU-Tulsa, school officials announced.
"We believe the school is on the right course to develop needed degrees for (Tulsa's) economic development," said Jon Wiese, president of the Broken Arrow-based company.
The donation could be matched with state funding to create a $1 million endowed chair in network communications, said OSU-Tulsa President Gary Trennepohl.
Wiese, a 1981 OSU business graduate, said the $500,000 gift is Xeta's largest donation. It establishes the Xeta Technologies chair in network communications.
Trennepohl said Tuesday the gift is the largest donation OSU-Tulsa has received, including when it was known as the University Center at Tulsa and Rogers University-Tulsa campus.
OSU-Tulsa is a consortium of Oklahoma State University, Langston University, the University of Oklahoma and Northeastern State University. Xeta employs about 125 workers in Broken Arrow and 375 nationwide.
