(Trenton, New Jersey-AP) -- Managers at a Pennsylvania radio station have egg on their faces following a botched promotional contest asking listeners to mail raw eggs to the station.
Sam Milkman, program director at the station (W-M-M-R-FM), says the scheme was hatched last week in the spirit of Easter. Apparently no one realized it would coincide with the deadline for filing income tax returns.
Shell-shocked postal workers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey were not happy to get gooey letters with smashed, smelly eggs inside during one of the busiest weeks of the year.
The station apologized to postal workers at least once an hour on the air today.
