(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Neighborhood children shouting stop, drop and roll helped an eleven-year-old playmate put out a fire that was blazing on his shirt.
Major Brian Stanaland says the boy was trying to light a fire with gasoline in an outdoor smoker yesterday afternoon. The gasoline flashed over and the boy tried to run across the back yard with his shirt on fire.
Stanaland says the boy heard the reminders from the other kids and put himself by stopping, dropping and rolling. He says the boy suffered third-degree burns over 15 percent of his body, mostly on his arms and legs.
The boy was taken to Children's Hospital of Oklahoma where he is in serious condition.
