(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Scholarship recipients whose parents were killed in the Oklahoma City bombing were honored today at the Governor's mansion.
High school freshman Michell Martinez lost her father in the bombing.
She says having a scholarship gives her the opportunity to be something in life.
Survivors and children of victims can receive the scholarships funded through an endowment.
As of March 31st, funds raised for the Heartland Scholarship Program totaled nearly 936-thousand dollars.
Projections have shown the cost of the scholarships to be ten-point-five (m) million dollars.
The scholarship program, the Survivors' Education Fund and the Federal Employees Education Assistance Fund have helped meet the additional need.
