(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Research being done at Oklahoma City's Children's Hospital could benefit children with diabetes.
Doctor Kenneth Copeland is director of the hospital's diabetes department.
Copeland will lead eight children ages six through eleven through a three-month study on inhaled insulin. The study is one often being conducted across the county to determine the safety and effectiveness of insulin delivered by an inhaling device.
Copeland says researchers know inhaling insulin works in adults. And the new device could keep children from having to be injected with insulin up to six times daily.
Copeland says if trials are successful, the new device could be on the market in three years.
