(Altamonte Springs, Florida-AP) -- A Florida burglary suspect has come up with a novel defense: my mom made me do it.

Police say 18-year-old Eric Wiener told authorities he committed a string of burglaries because the woman he calls "Mom" told him
he would have to bring in money if he wanted to stay with her.

"Mom" is actually a 37-year-old woman named Cheryl Amador.

Police say the man claims Amador even instructed him on how to break into homes.

Police arrested Amador in March on various charges. But she made bail and has disappeared.
