(Dallas-AP) -- A terrifying story of a shooting at sea.
Pirates suspected of being drug traffickers boarded a Dutch family's sailboat off the coast of Honduras last week. They opened fire, paralyzing a 13-year-old boy from the waist down.
Ham radio operators who heard his father's call for help on a shortwave radio helped get the boy to a Dallas hospital.
The boy is in fair condition with kidney and spinal cord damage.
He was flown to the hospital early Saturday from Honduras.
Doctors say the boy may never walk again, but the teen says he feels fine. He says the experience "wasn't that bad," and that he was more worried about his parents.
