OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Gov. Frank Keating appointed businessman Paul D. Austin of Norman to the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents on Monday.
Austin replaces Dr. Donald Halverstadt on the board. Austin's term will end on March 21, 2007. Senate confirmation is required for the appointment.
Austin graduated from OU in 1961 with a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in 1963. Since 1993, he has served as vice president of Austin Management Co.
His wife, Jane Ford Austin, is a 1963 OU graduate.
Keating called Austin "a driving force behind OU's accent to top tier status among America's public institutions of higher education."
