OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A judge follwed a jury's recommendation in sentencing a man to 2,000 years in prison for robbing and trying to kidnap a woman.

Richard L. Flint was sentenced Thursday by Oklahoma County District Judge Susan Caswell to 1,000 years on each of his attempted kidnapping and robbery convictions. She ordered the sentences to run consecutively.

Flint, who has three prior felony convictions, also received an additional 90 days for a misdemeanor assault and battery conviction.

He was convicted March 9 of attacking an Oklahoma City doctor, Amy Darter, on an elevator in a University Hospital parking garage. Darter's face was slammed into her car, breaking her nose.

A hospital employee who had been sitting in her car in the garage ran to help when she heard Darter screaming and honking her car horn. The employee beat Flint over the head with her purse until he fled, Assistant District Attorney Lori Weaver said.

Flint was arrested about 30 minutes after the attack, wearing a blood-stained T-shirt. DNA tests matched the blood to that of Darter, 29.
