(Bristow-AP) -- A Creek County couple have been arrested in connection with the death of the woman's 18-month-old daughter.

Creek County Chief Criminal Deputy Ed Willingham says 27-year-old Tammy Brooks and her boyfriend, Kurt Arnold Vomberg Junior were arrested on complaints of first-degree murder and lewd molestation in the death of Skyla Brooks.

The toddler was pronounced dead at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa last Tuesday. That was roughly 24 hours after Vomberg reportedly summoned authorities to a home west of Sapulpa.

Authorities say Vomberg told them the child was choking and that he shook her pretty hard in an effort to revive her.

Creek County Sheriff Larry Fugate says a doctor says it's not possible that the child choked. Willingham says physicians found bite marks and numerous bruises on her body. Hospital personnel also found a number of scrapes and tears in the child's vaginal area.
