(Stillwater-AP) -- A Stillwater woman may only face probation after pleading no contest to a felony count of animal cruelty.

Amy Lynn McKee is expected to be sentenced Friday to three years probation with the understanding that a local humane society will be able to inspect her horses at random.

McKee pleaded no contest yesterday just as jurors were to be selected for her Payne County trial.

The 28-year-old was charged in August with failing to properly feed and water her eight horses, which she kept on two lots east of Stillwater. No adequate shelter was available for the horses.

Authorities seized the animals and they all have recovered unde the care of four volunteers. As part of her sentence, McKee will be expected to pay the four caretakers for their expenses.
