(Monroeville, Alabama-AP) -- Prosecutors say a little Alabama boy who shot and killed his five-year-old neighbor probably won't face any charges.
Police in Monroeville say the seven-year-old boy shot the girl in the head with an air rifle last Thursday. The girl died Saturday.
Investigators say the boy had played with the pellet gun until a parent took it from him and hid it. The child reportedly found the gun Thursday.
The local district attorney says representatives from the county's Child Death Review Board will hear evidence about the case, and that investigators are trying to determine whether anyone could be held responsible.
He says courts have ruled that a seven-year-old child is too young to form the intent to murder, so charges against the boy are unlikely.
