(Lawrence, Kansas-AP) -- Kansas guard Luke Axtell will sit out the rest of the basketball season.

Axtell missed the last ten games with a still-undisclosed illness. Coach Roy Williams says the 6-foot-10 junior won't return this season -- but should be back for his senior year.

The former University of Texas player will continue to sit on the K-U bench.

Kansas officials characterize Axtell's illness as not life-threatening.
