(Denver-AP) -- Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh is asking a federal court to throw out his convictions, saying he had ineffective legal representation at trial.

McVeigh filed a motion in U-S District Court in Denver today that says his attorney, Stephen Jones, leaked sensitive information to the media around the time of his trial. McVeigh says Jones even leaked that McVeigh allegedly confessed.

McVeigh says Jones promoted a questionable defense theory about foreign terrorists to generate interest in his own book. Lastly, McVeigh says Jones failed to disclose that he was close friends with the family of a girl who was killed in the April 1995 bombing.

In a separate motion, McVeigh says U-S District Judge Richard Matsch should disqualify himself from the case because he has said that Jones did a good job. McVeigh was convicted by a federal jury in Denver for his role in the bombing and sentenced to death. He is being held in a federal prison in Indiana.
