(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Hundreds of Oklahomans with disabilities are hoping to get the attention of legislators today at the Capitol.
About 30 exhibits will be located around the Capitol for Disabilities Awareness Day from service agencies such as the Oklahoma Council of the Blind, the Office of Handicapped Concerns and the Business Enterprise Program.
The event is coordinated by Jason Price and sponsored by the Department of Rehabilitation Services. Price says among the top concerns facing disabled people are employment, transportation, housing and eliminating stigma.
He says employers who are interested on the phone often change their tone when he shows up in a wheelchair. And once he found a job, there were other obstacles such as transportation.
