Two Oral Roberts University basketball players are under investigation for sexual assault. At first, one alleged victim came forward, claiming she was sexually assaulted after O-R-U's Thursday night basketball victory.
For Derrick Taylor, the O-R-U Golden Eagles' win against Southern Utah Thursday gave him the best game of his life. He scored 27 points. Police say a get-together later that night has led to allegations of a sexual assault. “It was all part of the same event," said Tulsa police sex crimes unit sergeant Pat Calhoun. “It was at a private residence and not on campus."
Last Friday, only one victim alleged that Golden Eagles Derrick Taylor and Leon Irving sexually assaulted her late Thursday night. Monday, police received another complaint. “We do have two victims,†Calhoun said. “We do have two reports alleging sexual assault. The victims are out of town right now, which is going to slow down the investigation a little bit, because we need to visit with them again."
Coach Scott Sutton suspended Taylor and Irving Friday, leaving the pair behind when the team went to play in Kansas City. A university representative says the school will cooperate fully with the police investigation. “We will put all of the information together,†Calhoun said, “send it over to the District Attorney's office and let them make the decision whether or not to file charges."
