(Houston-AP) -- The days when most Houston Astros fans paid five dollars for parking at home games are pretty much over. The Astros are getting ready to open Enron Field, their new $251 million stadium in downtown Houston. The exhibition opener is March 30th.

Lots two to six blocks from Enron Field will charge a sliding scale of four dollars to 10 dollars per game. Close-in spaces could go for as much as 20 dollars per space. The Astros' top parking price last year was 10 dollars per game for about 200 or 300 customers with special parking privileges. Everybody else paid five dollars per game.

Houston police are warning fans to not expect to be able to park within a block or two of the new stadium. Fans had become accustomed to the Astrodome layout, which had roughly 23,000 parking spaces within five blocks of the stadium.
